ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Not all wounds are visible. Some live in the gaze – in the look you receive, and the look you give.
"The Biased" is a powerful confrontation with how we see – and how we are seen. The fragmented face emerges through layers of red, black, and ochre – not to reveal identity, but to question it. Who are you behind the prejudices of others? And what prejudices do you carry yourself, without knowing it?
This is not a portrait of one person. It is a mirror. A reflection of what happens when we are reduced to a single thing – a single impression, a single assumption. And the inner life behind it becomes invisible.
To own this work is to dare to ask difficult questions – about yourself, about society, about relationships. It brings into a space not only aesthetics, but intellectual and emotional depth that invites reflection and conversation.
The artist’s experience while creating the piece was not controlled – it was impulsive, emotional, and physical. The colors came first. Then came the gaze. The painting nearly painted itself – leaving the artist with a sense of having uncovered something she did not know she carried. A kind of quiet protest, but also a vulnerable revelation.
